Ron, I agree with your regarding the small, (stock) alternator, however, when it comes to Quad Drivers, especially in areas of extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold, a second battery could save one's life. When the engine is running the small alternator is sufficient in most cases. Like I said before what is ruining you battery is the drainage before you start it up. Get the biggest battery you can fit in the van and start engine as soon as possible.....this will solve most of the problem. A dual battery setup would be cool but very few are going to spend the cash for that. ron c7
