Ron, I agree with your regarding the small, (stock) alternator, however,  
when it comes to Quad Drivers, especially in areas of extreme weather  
conditions, both hot and cold, a second battery could save one's life.
A remote starter is also handly for those frigid mornings when you don't  
have a scraper or garage.  Anything else would be too risky

cases. Like I said before what is ruining you battery is the  drainage before 
you start it up. Get the biggest battery you can fit in  the van and start 
engine as soon as possible.....this will solve most of  the problem. A dual 
battery setup would be cool but very few are going  to spend the cash for that.
