the only negative we've had: the pump has to be replaced when the battery is old...in the first part of this century the battery/computer had to be replaced every five years. now, they apparently last 7 or 8 years. My husband is on his third pump and it will need to be replaced next year. Each time you replace it, you have to go through the surgery and therefore there's a chance of infection. The infection is not likely but it did happen to us once. That was not a fun experience. The infection was not the result of the pump itself, but rather the infection suceptibility of an incision site. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 9:48 AM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Baclofen pump
Only if your doctor believe that you are a candidate for the pump, would I recommend it. Much smaller dosage, directly to the pain/spasm source. That means less drugs in your system and less damage to the liver and kidneys. I know of no complaints, only positive results for those using them. I haven't been on the quad-list for years but am back to get info positive/negative from anyone who has/had a baclofen pump. I'm 10 years post after a run-in with a kangaroo, paralyzed at C5/6 and my spasms have gotten bad enough that pills aren't working anymore. Appreciate hearing from anyone, Rooby
