Hi Nick,
Have ever had surgery before?
Dan
At 05:48 AM 3/13/2010, scrowder said something that elicited my response:
Before you start reading this, let me just warn you -- it's pretty long.

I continue to prepare for my upcoming surgeries
-- for a stage IV wound, a spinal fusion and a
torn rotator cuff. With that in mind, I am
looking for writers to write new articles for me
for the Spring Edition of Dangerwood ... the
Magazine. I will pay up to $100 per article if
necessary, depending on how much editing is
required. Remember, the website address is: Www.SurvivingParalysis.com.
I would like articles covering the following storylines:
· INSPIRATIONAL
· IN THE NEWS TODAY
· SPORTS (2010 ParaOlympics -- the
opening ceremonies were today). The website
address is www.vancouver2010.com/paralympic-games/spectator-guide
· TECHNOLOGY TODAY (talk about a/some great new gadgets, etc.)
· TIP OF THE MONTH.
Meanwhile, there is something I also need to
address. Here's my situation... as many of you
know, I am a C4/5 incomplete quadriplegic, with
all kinds of weird sensation and a lot of pain.
At the root of my pain is a horribly advanced
case of scoliosis. I reached a point a while
ago where every time I sat upright, whether in
my wheelchair in the shower, the weight of my
head (approximately the same as a bowling ball)
pulled my torso and spine down to one side.
I was scheduled to have three surgeries on
December 2, but had to cancel or lose my
website/business. I desperately need to
reschedule, but strays my original surgery team
will no longer operate on me. In order to have
my surgeries, I have to establish a new primary
physician and a new surgeon with Sharp. To do
so, it will require yet more time sitting in my chair.
Now, every time I sit, the curve in my spine
increases significantly. I have appointments
next week that I have to go to, and a condition
that, in order to live with and not make any
worse than it already is, I would have to stay
out of my chair. Is there some sort of chest
harness out there that may possibly help
stabilize me? There must be something. Any suggestions?
On a different note, Dangerwood, the online
magazine that I created a few years ago, NEEDS
MORE POSTS RIGHT NOW. The website was doing
great until, just a couple of months ago, some
website assassin spammed it to death for two or
three weeks straight, making it virtually impossible for anyone to post.
PLEASE take a look at it and choose from any of
the topics on the left side of the homepage to
post, then make your post. It can be in the form
of a question (name one person with a disability
that doesn't have something they would like to
ask or tell another person with the same or
similar disability. Hopefully this will sort of
jumpstart the site back to life. If you have any
questions, please e-mail me at
[email protected] and write QUESTION in the
subject box. If you have an idea or suggestion,
then please write SUGGESTION in the subject box.
Remember, when it comes to people with
disabilities, the rule of thumb should always be: One for All and All for One.
Thanks for listening, Nick
