I started doing it for my brother when he was deployed. When he got back he wanted me to continue since he is busy with work and travels. I make sure his bills get paid, manage his retirement accounts. My aunt asked me if I could do the same for her. I suggested ways she could save money, got her on a cheaper phone plan, pay her bills, when she wants to buy or sell stocks she lets me know and I place the orders. I only do it for family. Of course the person has to trust you with all their account information. I use Quicken to handle accounts and Outlook to remind me when bills are due for those that I could not setup auto-pay for.

I saw something on the news once about people doing "personal concierge" services. People doing services for people with busy lives. Google "personal concierge" to get some ideas.

Jim,
How did you get into the 'personal assistant' business?    What all services do you offer to people?

Since I became a quad I have done:
computer programming, learned to program in QuickBASIC in the '90 to write a program that a company needed;
web site setup and maintenance
personal assistant, I guess that is what you would call it. I handle people's finances making sure their bills get paid, buy & sell stocks, stuff like that.

I have a friend who is quadriplegic and wants to know what types of jobs that he can do through the computer.  Does anyone have any ideas?
