Exactly! Have a friend or family who is mechanically savy, or many times
a local garage or mechanical shop will do the work and may not charge
anything.

Get all your manuals, keep record of s/n's, model, electronics version,
and any information that you can. Mark all fuses and breakers as to what
they control, if the motors take brushes keep extra on hand.

I have an Invacare storm (3rd one) and have kept old chair for parts.

Advise: If you have a good relationship with your repair person, tell him
you want another chair for backup that matches what you have. Many times
when someone gets a chair they junk the old one. IMPORTANT, ask the
repairman and not the company. My guy takes the chairs and keeps them so if
anyone has to pay from their own pocket, he sends the part and tells me to
send
what it is worth to me.
