The House just passed the bill with the extension on the Medicaid FMAP in it. Yeah!!!!!! What does this mean for Kansas Medicaid? The Kansas 2011 state budget that passed in May built in an amount of $131M for Medicaid. The bill which just passed Congress and is now on it's way to the President for signature has a reduced amount of $100M for Kansas Medicaid. So, the 2011 Kansas Medicaid budget will be short $31M. While this is not the full amount expected, I see this this as a huge win for advocates. Had we not called and pleaded on the need for this extention, Kansas Could have seen a $131M shortfall!
