Powered Lifts and Lifts generally have come a long way in the last 20 plus  
years.  Much depends on you actually physical or lack of physical that may  
determine your needs.  Powered lifts are expensive. Some are stationary and 
 others more portable.  Some are hard wired, others use 24 volt battery  
systems.  Spend some time to look and compare.  An OT evaluation might  help 
with the process since you haven't been in the need or loop all of this  
time. Consider your long term, as well as short term needs as well.  In the  
end, you will know that what you purchased was right for YOU.
