I have to agree with Greg, Dave and Lori: I moved to Arizona, from Wisconsin,
two years after my injury to avoid the cold and snow. I honestly don't know
how anyone with an SCI [especially quads,] can survive in the cold and snow.
If you live in a cold climate you have my respect and my condolences.

Having said that, I love the heat in AZ but it has caused me to be a wimp.
Anything below 70 degrees F now feels cold to me. I dress in layers when I'm
cold, including a knit cap for my head. As someone said earlier; "if I'm cold
I'm not enjoying anything."

There are only a few things that warm me once I'm cold:
1. when I am alone in my car I crank the heat and turn my vehicle into a
sauna... it feels so good!
2. a hot shower always helps. Of course, eventually you have to get out of
the shower.
3. alcohol. A glass or two of wine, preferably red, is the BEST way I've
found of warming up. I understand it may not really warm me so much as dull my
sensation, but it really does work for me.

That's my two cents.
Don.
