Hi all, I had a colonoscopy a number of years ago and it was ordered while I was in the hospital. It is a real pain and they wanted to do another one in February when I was the hospital for sepsis UTI, but they decided not to. I do believe it would be easier in the hospital, I didn't think they would admit you just to be preped. I'd had a bowel blockage and that's why they were doing it. My dad had one of years ago, decided to only took away his ability to talk but he could feel everything they were doing. He wasn't anxious to have another one but he has to yearly.
I don't remember feeling anything when mine was done as I was given some IV to sedate me. I sure hope you get everything worked out Greg. I know I was given a drug transfusion during one of my initial surgeries, but I don't remember anything about it. I remember they asked my family to donate blood. The one time I did it I convinced my rehab doctor to put me in the hospital. It was a big mess and hard enough to handle there, even nurses dont like to handle multiple shits. If you try the prep at home eat light and make sure you have someone to help with cleanups. I've been on Testosterone gel, but my level is still too low. So if my insurance covers it I'll get a shot too ($540 if not covered). A bit anemic and borderline diabetic. The big issue is my body is blow on blood. About 2 pints low. So there might be a leak somewhere, stomach, intestines, etc. I have to go get an upper GI and talk to a stomach doctor about getting an "alien anal probe". I really do not want a colonoscopy. The prep for it is what I really do not want to go through. Drinking the "clear out" juice. I'd almost think I'd need to overnight it at the hospital. If I try taking it at home, just getting to the appointment could be messy. I don't see how it can be done. Have any of you had a colonoscopy since your injury? G.
