Nan, I've known of you for a long time. We go back more then a decade. I
am so proud of you and the things you have accomplished and those who you
have inspired. May you continue to be blessed.
By comparison, if I may, I wonder how lil Mandy is doing these days.
Best Wishes

Hi Gina.
I've often pondered the same question. I am C5/6 post 43 years quad. I've
done a lot in my life ... married, had kids, have grandkids, bred and
showed miniature horses, traveled. But it was all stuff I wanted to do, for
me. I've felt guilty about not doing more for others. As I have gotten
older, and it's harder and harder to do the things I once took for granted, I
regret not doing more ... until I really think about it. I am not a
religious person per se, but I identify as "spiritual". I feel that God/the
Godddess/"the spirit in the sky", whatever anyone wants to call it, allowed me
to live And my obligation is to do just that. Live life. Live life to the
fullest and to the best of your ability.

As far as making a difference, I hope that I've been able to touch people,
whether disabled or AB, by how I'm living my life. I hope that I inspire
others to find joy in life, teach others how it's possible to find happiness
despite all the obstacles.

If you feel you need to do more, there are many, many volunteer
opportunities out there. I chose to volunteer for the American Miniature
Horse
Registry (it's close to my heart). I worked with a woman named Genevieve
DuPont, who was legally blind, to create the PMC (physically/mentally
challenged)
Division. We wrote the guidelines for the rulebook and worked with the
AMHR to make sure shows offered these classes. We established this division
back in the late '90s and it's still still flourishing today with PMC
classes offered all the way up to the National Show. What started with just
"ViVi" and I endures to this day and has attracted more people than we ever
imagined.

I haven't walked on the moon or received the Nobel Peace Prize, but I am
proud of what I have accomplished. I love my life, despite the difficulties
and set backs. I'm a good mom, a good "GiGi" and a good friend. I think
that is making a difference.

Good luck on your life journey. I know you'll find something that makes
you feel like you too have made a difference.

Nan
