What level injury is your son? How much can he move? Biceps? Strength? Type of bed? I'm c5-6. I have decent biceps but no triceps and cannot transfer myself. I have a queen size bed that is pushed next to my bedroom wall. I sleep on the side of the bed that is flush against the wall so there is no way to fall out of bed. I have mounted a grab bar on that wall, a few inches above the bed. I am able to put my arm under the grab bar and, using my biceps, bring myself up to my elbows. Once propped on my elbows I can turn myself or reposition pretty well. It takes some practice but it works well for me. I've been thinking about making a video to post on youtube to show other quads what works for me. I'll do it. Would love to hear/see how the rest of you do things! Don.

My son is having a really hard time with the fact that once he is out of his chair in bed that he can't get up. Mind you he has an automatic adjustable bed. Wants to try sleeping in his chair. Needless to say...I will not let that happen if I have any say....has anyone else had this overwhelming feeling. Can most of you sit up, reposition yourselves or transfer out of bed / Peace be with you........ Nancy P
