And not the John Deere A friend of my son was deer hunting close to Harrisburg Pennsylvania. After hiking about 1 mile from the main road, he found his stand and waited for daylight to come. Daylight finally arrived and he was disappointed that less than 100 yards away was another hunter. Oh well, that's the way it goes. Within an hour three deer come running up the mountain, a quick look, no antlers, the hunter has is deer tag for antlerless deer, so he takes the biggest. He goes down from his stand goes to the deer, problem, the deer has spikes. He is stuck, the other hunter knows he shot it, he knows the right thing is to drag the deer to the main road, contact the game commission, pay his fine so he will be able to hunt again that day. As the hunter was within one quarter mile of the road he came upon a hunter in a wheelchair. The hunter in the wheelchair says wow, you got yours early, you're lucky! The hunter said not quite so lucky because he thought it was antlerless and unfortunately it is a spike buck. The hunter in the wheelchair said a spike is legal for me, so he proceeded to put his tag onto the deer. The first hunter helped put the deer onto a small cart that was hooked to the wheelchair and the handicapped hunter was thrilled. He stated that he hunts a lot, but doesn't get much. The meat will help with the grocery bill. The hunter accompanied the man in the wheelchair to the road only to find that there was a game warden talking to the people of the area. The hunter disappears, the game warden congratulates the man in the wheelchair and everyone around was very happy for the handicapped hunter and they all help him load the deer into his van. I hope he keeps the story straight! And I missed my chance at at a very large eight. He's still out there and I have another eight days. Wish me luck, Glenn Henry
