We usually have the transfers covered, but they were willing to move the
chair of the way, and a couple of the attendants apologized that they could
not help anymore, but it was a legal issue and I certainly understand that.
I am very fortunate that my daughter had learned the pivot transfer for high
quads at Santa Clara rehab.

We do not expect my personal attendants to transfer me on a regular basis,
but have trained at least ¾ them to use the transfer in case of emergency.
Like my van catching on fire!  Nobody was hurt but I was really glad
everyone knew the transfer.  The lift would not work, so they had to lift it
out but thank goodness it was my older chair and not the Omega Trac at 470
pounds.  Joan
