Well, the attendant guy is supposed to be an African immigrant who's really
kind of savage and uncivilized, which I suppose is why some people have
called it racist. He's a caricature, though--an extreme example, so we can
wonder if he'll prove dangerous or change by the end (I'm not giving
anything away). And at times his relationship with the quad borders on
abusive, which made me uncomfortable though it did keep me laughing.
Afterward, however, I felt like I could sort of relate to it. I've had some
weird attendants in my day. Sometimes a good attendant does become a kind
of buddy, not just an employee. There's something to be said for having a
helper who doesn't pity or baby you, who acts more like a pal than a nurse.
But as I said, I'm curious what others' reactions will be.

I saw the trailer for it on several websites. Haven't seen the movie yet.

Care to expand on what you found offensive? And what you found
accurate/inaccute?

Don.

Hey, Everybody!

Anyone seen the new French film "The Intouchables"? It's about the odd,
awkward, but mutually beneficial relationship between a quad and his
reluctant personal-care attendant. I found it funny, intermittently
offensive, but nevertheless touchingly true. What did y'all think of it?
Just curious to know. Best, Ben
