I started back in January of this year on getting a new chair. Once the paperwork was finished and sent off to Medicaid to be quickly returned less than a month later of being approved! I was almost in shock when they called me and hopefully in the next week or so chair will be ordered. http://wheelchairs.com/hframe_plus_page.html very interesting subjects being spoken about on the list lately. I am 3/4 complete nearly 19 year post injury and love being outside! Living in northern Indiana just not the temperature that affects life but also the amount of moisture in the air! We have been over 90° great majority of our summer so far and can tolerate it for many hours. It's not about our body changes but our chairs that's wrapped around us so tightly! I am custom molded back on my chair and can't imagine how much heat it keeps in?? All of my seating on my chair is black so that only absorbs more heat from the sun! Knowing my chair while enough, I love finding sprinklers to cool myself off.
I'm currently employed at target for the last 17 years and can't stand their lack of respect for me. I have an associate degree for the last 11 years and I don't even care about it. So I volunteer at a local elementary school during the school year and some new as a volunteer opportunity is going through the training to be a court appointed advocate for children.I'm about halfway through the training so far and greatly enjoying it. For any of those individuals don't get out on a regular basis, it's greatly beneficial both mentally and physical. I sometimes leave my apartment for the majority of the day nearly 10 hours or more. Even when I don't like going anywhere, but once I get out I feel much better than if I would've stayed home. It's just not having places to go but having others depend on us is definitely difficult because of or disabilities. Just knowing that the principal at the school is expecting the following day is a huge boost of confidence. Besides I was at the grocery store and the person behind the counter recognized me and informed me he was a former student at school. He was rather shocked to find out I was still helping out at school and I told him I have only been there for nearly 9 years. Yes I have had my health issues over the years but my thought is life Rolls on! Thanks for listening and take care
