Back in 1980 I burned one of my knuckles when I was in college. I went to the
ER and there were two Doctor's Standing on either side of my gurney arguing
over what should be done for me. One doctor said amputate the other doctor said
skin graph. They both kept yelling back and forth to each other skin graft one
would say amputation the other one would say.
Finally I just yelled at the two of them " ... Hey do I get a say here at
all?" I told them that I did not want either of their choices that I would try
to take care of it and if I didn't succeed then I would consult one of them. I
ended up being completely successful taking care of it myself with the help of
the college nurse. Bobbie

    Bobbie,

When i was in the hospital with my initial injury in 98 i had a hole in
the side of my knee to the bone and they wanted to amputate. There is never a
reason to immediately amputate a limb unless the infection has set in and its
beyond hope and going to kill you . Many doctors and people in general think if
your paralyzed, you dont need the limbs anyway, so why mess with it........just
amputate. If Britney Spears, Rihanna or the doctors mother had curled feet
they would never even bring up amputation. This quad girl needs to go to
another doctor or two or three until she finds one willing to direct her to the
rehab personnel that can deal with this. Totally rediculous. Imagine how many
old folks and disabled have had limbs cut off simply because its the easy way
to go. god help this woman find help.........

    Hi All,
I was talking to a neighbor friend of mine, who is a C7 quadriplegic
female 38 18 years post. She just got back from the podiatrist who told her
that he may need to amputate her right foot because her rose have Severely
curled under. She was injured at age 17 and never wore shoes right from the
beginning because she wears size 11 And could never find shoes to fit.
I told her to get a second and third opinion before she did any
drastic. Has anybody ever had issues like this before?
