thanks W. i just put my lil story in there as it might help someone
trying to figure out self catherization. its so hard to figure out simple
things
by yourself. ive helped several paras and quads make a workable, mobile
cathe kit. its better than keeping an old tube in your hat, lol...........ive
met guys that do that.

Ron, you are unique as a C6/7 incomplete. In the Quad World, you are
considered high function. For you, I'm glad and wish the best for you.

Im c6-7 and have always self catherized. In the beginning the hardest part
was figuring out where to buy extention tubes to attach to the catheter so
I could urinate into a toilet without the need of a bottle. Then me and
the OT found a suitable bungee cord to hold pants back. I found out bungee
cords with plastic grab hooks are a must to avoid scratching the boys. Then
through trial and error i figured out surgilube flip top lubricant has the
perfect size hole to shove the cathe tube in a lubricate it, three quick
passes in and out. Find a small bag and put your tubes, extention tube, bungee
cord and lube and your good to go anywhere. I put a mesh carrier
underneath my chair and the cathe bag is always there. Once a week I restock
te
tubes..

Thanks Julie, but as a nurse you know already that most Quads do not
self-cath. Granted, some do but most don't. Now if you are discussing Paras,
most do self-cath and some don't.
What do you have regarding Bowel Management products ...... for Quads?

As a Nurse involved with Rehab, Urology and the SCI community; I have been
asked to advise a new company, Community Medical Products, who is setting
out to provide a one stop shop for Self Catheterization, Personal Hygiene
etc. aids and tools. I need your help to assure that they have the right
product categories and right products. Please check out
http://www.commedpro.com/ and let me know what you'd like to see there and
also if you know of
any tools developed in the SCI community, like some they have on the website
already, that should be more widely available. They want to get this right
and be a genuine service to the SCI community not just another web vendor.
