They told me this was good considering b4 ww2 people with spinal injuries lived about 2 yrs post. I realized this was probally bullshit at the time. How long a quad lives depends on so many factors its unreal. Realisticly, I believe if I do a good job with myself, I think for me being 21 at injury, c6-7, taking pretty good care of myself........I should reach 60 yrs old......40 yrs post injury b4 my death. There are so many things to get you as a quad though........skin breakdown, pnemonia, blood clots, getting run over, caregiver abuse, depression, obesity, cancer, just plain bad luck.........and 1000 more. The main factor is at what age you receive your injury, obviously if your 50 when you get paralyzed your chances at living old are greater.I think Dave Occonnel was the poster child for quadom.........he got it at 17 on a balance beam showing off for some girls........he was a teacher many years, then worked at some big company on computers forever, had a family, kids, house........many cars. I remember him telling me his first car was a 67 caddillac. He lived life, had plenty of love and took pretty good care of himself. I think he was 64 upon his passing. I guess I like to celebrate both occasions. Saw post on the Quad-list on Facebook about the oldest living Quadriplegic, 86 years I think. Tried to click on it but there was no story about her. Does anyone know her story? Dana Sent from my iPhone On Sep 17, 2013, at 6:11 PM, greg <[email protected]> wrote: I'm 49 and 32 years post. I always feel like my birthday is my accident date now.
