I take midodrine 5 mg as well. When I first started taking it, it cause my heart to race, but now it is pretty much side effect free for me.
In the past I had always used caffeine drinks like Mountain Dew to raise my blood pressure, but those are really short term and may also cause a crash later on. I am now starting to use midodrine on a daily basis and I find unable to function much quicker after I eat. I tend to eat right after I get up in therefore I take the midodrine right after I start eating. That way my blood pressure is up shortly after I finished eating. After being hospitalized in June because my blood pressure dropped to really scary levels, because of a quick onset bowel infection, I am determined not to let my blood pressure drop as low as it did before. When your blood pressure drops too low, your organs don't function properly. Because my blood pressure dropped to ridiculously low levels, it's a long story, it took my body about seven or eight hours before I started urinating once again. Talk to your doctor about getting one of these drugs.
