She needs to possibly get a case manager if she was 21 or under at time of the accident. She needs to apply for section 8 housing now under necac, because the waiting list could be a year long. Sadly I have been in a position where I wanted to get out quick and all that was offered was a temporary nursing home. She needs to start calling every handicap organization and start compiling a list of numbers and explain her critical needs as a quad. Paraquad will help. Possibly see a counselor specializing in paralyzed individuals, they can connect you to groups also that can help. Unless she is being abused its not going to happen overnight.

Wow. Talk about an almost impossible task without meeting the individual. A Step-Mother kicking her Step-Daughter out of the house. What does the Father have to say in this matter. Actually, I don't care what he thinks. I would begin with the CIL Group called Para-Quad in St Louis. They are or should be aware of housing in the St Louis Area. Remember you don't want to throw someone from a frying pan ... into a fire. Remember its more than housing, but rather accessible and affordable housing. I don't know all the details except the step-mother said she must get out real soon... WE are in the st. louis mo. area--Does Wheel or anyone know what I should search under or know any sites that may help her? thanks all for any idea's. Dan H*
