My wife just started back to a job, being a caregiver 2 to 3 days a week and 2 evenings from 5 till 10 for an older woman with alzheimers. I'm all alone most the time and get by pretty well, she just makes me a sandwich or gets something for me that is easy for me to eat and leaves a few snacks that I can get. Before that she worked full time at factory type jobs...so I see what your saying about lots of caregiving hours...They told me I don't qualify for any hours at all, here in Missouri, But so far we have got by ok. I wonder if the state cut her hours because a case review showed that all hours weren't being used but were being billed. Also maybe the agency nurses got tired of being disrespected by her, no matter who is your pca you need to respect them and not treat them like slaves. They called her back the next day with a new agency that is going to help her ... maybe. She thinks if she moves closer to her family they will help her, right now they live 15 minutes away. I cant see how you could get a bowell routine and shower done and cleaned up in that time. That's not accounting for a basic microwave meal and throwing a load in the wash. She might be able to pull it off if she was proactive and did everything she could herself. Its easier said than done, Im sure she deals with depression and the rest of the usual probs that a quad on their own faces. This might be a precursor to trying to get her to throw in the towel and go to a nursing home. Its hard to believe they can cut 6 hrs down to 2 and get away with it. Pete can help her for awhile , but eventually he will have to move on. I hope she figures something out, but I cant imagine what........it doesn't sound like family is going to take up the slack. > > >Ron > > > >On Thursday, June 26, 2014 10:06 PM, Gmail <[email protected]> wrote: > > > >Dawn has been living in my/our section 8 apartments since 1995.
