if your getting poked and need pic lines often, ask your doctor if he'll
precribe a port. i have one for cancer. i get blood taken often and received
chemo through it plus rituxan infusion maintenance through them. medical
personal seem to prefer them too.

As I wrote earlier this summer, "...another year down. The last 6 months have
been fraught with medical problems ... 3+ weeks in ICU in December. Spiraled
downhill after putting my dog down. Didn't eat or drink - ended up septic ...
vent, pic line, feeding tube, pull the plug discussions - the whole 9 yards.
Don't remember much which I am very thankful for. Another week in the hospital
in March - my potassium skyrocketed and they called me at 10PM to tell me to go
to ED. Got that under control. Nurse smashed my knee while in during March,
nice sore there now. My legs got so thin from being in bed, so now I have 3
sores on my left leg, one is down to the bone. The Wound Care Clinic is
beginning to feel like home! Feeling much better now. Hopefully things wi

Things are not looking better... I now have Osteomyelitis - my left leg where
the sores are. All are deep and look horrendous. I've done everything the
Wound Care Clinic has told me to do, but they just keep getting worse.
Tomorrow I get a PICC line and antibiotics ... the waiting and anticipation is
horrible. I'm scared because PICC lines never go easy for me. I just want to
run away.

Thank you Shirley, Nicki and W. It really helps to know that others
understand what I'm going through. My family just doesn't get it.

Oh Nan, I don't know what to say. Sounds beyond difficult.
Please know I am pulling for you with prayer. It is SO hard, shirley
