No offense, but Dr. Linke was our physiatrist at Barrow and unfortunately, we
were not impressed by his capabilities and “aloof” bedside manner. He never
addressed the severe shoulder/neck pain that my husband had during his stay at
Barrow and it has followed him throughout his therapy. He also never seemed to
be excited that after four months of total paralysis, my husband started moving
his feet and biceps and has since regained motor function in all his muscles
(albeit he is still non-functional and a quadriplegic). We had an insurance
snafu with our original company and felt we were labeled as “uninsured” and
hence “unwelcome” at Barrow. And while that insurance issue has been resolved
and Barrow was paid, we have made many trips back to St. Josephs emergency and
have not received good care at that hospital – they have never been able to
diagnose certain conditions that my husband has experienced.

Greg and Gail,

I'm in the process of gathering some recommended physiatrists for you. The
AZSCIA usually recommends Dr Linke, who has an excellent reputation. I will
also ask the people at our next support group. I don't have a physiatrist, so
I'm not much help. I used to recommend Dr. Drinkwater, but he passed away.

Here's a list from vitals.com.

Anyone know of a good SCI doctor in the Phoenix area?
I haven't seen one in quite awhile. My primary care doc is good, but he just
doesn't know enough about SCI stuff.
The lady I saw years ago I liked, but she moved.
I would think St Joe's / Banner should have some good ones.

Thanks, Greg
