Danny, A friend of mine had such severe ongoing spasms earlier last year that in a period of 3 months he lost over 35 pounds and he was not a big guy to begin with. His body was spasming so much he could not consume enough calories to keep weight on plus he could rarely sleep, even with strong spasm and pain medication and he tried numerous combinations. He ended up getting a baclofen pump and the spasms were immediately controlled.
As wheelchair shared, the pump delivers a fraction of the dosage of baclofen that you would take orally, but it goes directly into your spine for maximum effect. My friend said it was absolutely life-changing and he wished he had pursued it long before he was able to get it. He only spent a couple of days in the hospital post surgery to install the pump and he has had no problems since then. I think the pump has to be refilled with medication every 6 to 12 months but I'm not sure on this. Hope this helps… Steve - C4, 27 years On Sun, Jan 3, 2016 at 4:54 PM, Danny Espinoza <[email protected]> wrote: > My doctor was going to research other meds and look into the best thing > for me and get back to me.
