*I never used it but it is still on the market. *

*When I had my wound in **2004 but I used something similar - Santyl. Now
when one of my old battle wounds break open I use Silvasorb. Also, I just
found the following information for you as to whether to use Xenaderm or
Sanytyl and found this:*

*Santyl (Collagenase) is an enzyme used to break down the yellow slough
(pronounced "Sluff") by breaking down the collagen (the -ase ending means
it is an enzyme) and allowing the healthy new capillaries to grow. *

*In contrast, Xenaderm is used on already healthy tissues to promote growth
of more healthy tissue. These two ointments have different uses and
functions. You might start with the Santyl to remove the slough and then
change to Xenaderm when the wound base is all healthy granulation tissue.*

*If you are having problems... your home health agency nurse should be the
best one to consult as to which product to use for your current skin
breakdowns.*

*Hope this helps!*
