Dear friends, Every day for 100 days, the Transverse Myelitis Association (TMA) will feature a story of a person touched by neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, and transverse myelitis, including acute flaccid myelitis.
These rare auto-immune disorders affect the brain, optic nerve and/or spinal cord; the damage can be devastating. They can impact a person’s ability to see, breathe, walk, touch, and affect their bladder, bowel and sexual function, cause spasticity, affect cognition, cause depression, and leave them with chronic pain and fatigue.
