It all depends on so many different factors. Firstly, who owns the house and those things are something you should be concerned about IF you are trying to sell a home. For example, before my husband and I left our one home we had the carpets steam cleaned, the inside of the oven cleaned, and other aesthetic like or "need be" repairs to happen.
Doing what you have been doing has been going on for a long time and it only makes sense that damage is going to happen. Unless my caregivers are extremely careful... there are marks on the wall getting my Hoyer lift out of my closet by either turning a tight left corner (or right corner to get it back into the closet). I would suggest just using common sense or judgment as to either let things go until you want to try to sell your home (because it is only natural for something to happen accidentally or by a meeting to open your door with your foot pedal, etc. etc. etc.) or do what Wheelchair (Wally) suggested with the stainless steel covers for those areas unless you don't like that "look." I haven't "settled down" in any home since 1997 because of working and having to move because of job circumstances. My husband and I both had homes before we married and we thought we were going to settle down where we got married and where I am from but he never expected the Raytheon plant to have to close down and for him to have to find work (with Raytheon paying for the moves) in another state since there were not any places for him to work with his level of work and his high-level management position. We tried to move to settle down in between 2003 and 2005 and he didn't expect anything to happen to him but he did not want to have me burdened down with a home I couldn't sell because of needing care without him. Therefore we lived in extremely nice rental homes. We never thought we would end up in Tucson Arizona but we did and, after 11 years, that is where he passed away. Also, be glad that you have a house and family members still alive to help you out. :-) ~Lori On Tue, Mar 7, 2017 at 8:38 AM, greg <[email protected]> wrote: > After a few years in your house, how do you walls, doors, look from chair > damage?
