Hi Gail - 

 

How confident are you that it is ischial bursitis and not hamstring
tendinitis?  Curious.

Has he had any deep tissue massage in the whole area?

 

I would have someone good evaluate his hamstrings..and work on them if they
are involved.

If it is just the bursa he may need an injection.

 

Do you have a practitioner evaluating this with you?

This has been going on for 2 months and getting worse everyday, even with
bedrest....

Once I get the "phantom" pain in areas I can't feel, like my butt, only
sleeping helps. Often the next day it can be gone.
