Hello I'm 21 years post with a SP site. I also have had a protrusion around the catheter for quite a few years. We call it the "proud flesh" or "the meat". I believe the sticks you referred to have silver nitrate on them and uses a chemical reaction to cauterize the proud flesh. In the past I've never had much luck with it. I've had better luck when one of my other urologists use to burn it off (imagine a wood-burning set) but it's never stayed away completely. Mine will believe periodically and usually it's at the proud flesh site. As for the sweating, I certainly wouldn't rule out skin issues or anything else but for me I'm guessing that your urine is backing up and when you lay back the obstruction shifts and allows the urine to flow again. When you sit back up you feel better because the bladder is empty. Sometimes the obstruction can be a kink in the tubing or catheter. Sometimes it can be sediment or "floaty pieces" of skin/bladder lining in the urine. When you lay back sometimes this takes care of the problem and sometimes it doesn't and the bladder fills up again, and you need to repeat the reclining again and so on. Whatever the obstruction is it may not be blocking the flow of urine completely but slowing it to the point where it takes quite a while before it fills the bladder to the point that it irritates you to the point of dysreflexia. But again, don't rule out what the other causes may be. Randy
