William may be right. It depends of what was installed on that
PPC-Powerbook.
Installing 8.0, followed by upgrading to 8.1, will give 2 options:
1) Easy install: Computer will install the computer-related version.
A so installed OS on a PPC will not work after copying on a 68K.
2) Special install: 3 more specified options:
a) Mac-OS for PPC. Possibly and probably installed on PPC-PB, but a copy
will not work on a 68K.
b) Mac-OS for 68K. Will simply not been accepted by the PPC-PB.
c) Mac-OS-Fat for both 68K and PPC. Only a system installed in this
option on the PPC-PB can work after copying on a 68K.
A few thoughts about the probability to find a Mac-OS on a PPC-PB of which
you can make a useable copy working on a 68K:
Forgetting a delivery-installed system, which will not work anyway.
Why to install full-fat? IMHO: Only if you have, let's say, an upgraded 68K
and want to be able to use the 68K or the PPC. So what's the chance that you
met a PPC-PB with that not-logical etc. version installed on??
My advise: Original Mac-OS 8.0 install CD's are available for dumpprices
(US$ 5,-), so don't waste energy and time with that copy.
If still "hopeless" contact me OL.

Joe
