Typically, "DC brushless motors". Technically speaking, it isn't correct
- the motor itself is AC one (as the current which drives it, is in fact
alternating), but in conjunction with electronic cirquitry, the whole
thing is powered by DC, hence its common name.

Sorry, I'm not very experienced in English technical terms, so this
question I can't answer. To make things simpler, I'd say that this kind
of motors are used in computer industry everywhere and all the time -
such a motors are in floppy & hard drives, CD_ROMs, tape streamers
etc...
