Hello. I have a Pro Audio Spectrum 16 card that I will be using to record audio to a hard drive or RAM disk. I have some questions about using a computer for this purpose. Would it be more important to have a faster processor speed or faster bus speed? How much would level 2 cache help? What would be the best setting for Disk Cache in the memory control panel? What would be the best OS to run. The processor would be between an 80MHz 601 and a 120MHz 601+. Also heres a toughy...I have found that sometimes when I record to a hard drive, the recording will skip, whereas when I record to a RAM disk it doesnt, or at least not as often. However, the RAM disk is only about 130MB in size, which is good for maybe 25 min of audio (right?). Is there a way I can record to a hard drive but use the RAM as a buffer, so it records quickly but then copies to the hard drive and clears out the RAM disk of whats already has been copied. I have a SCSI card which I guess can back up drives automatically or something, maybe I could use that on the RAM disk?
