Hi, it's me again - the one with the Quadra 840AV that has the gray screen with nothing but the cursor up in the left upper corner. When I've had the chance, I've taken the experienced advice of the people on this forum, and have been trying various RAM cards in one slot at a time with the same result - a blank gray screen with a cursor in the upper left corner. At this point I think the motherboard may be damaged, especially since it requires all sorts of finagling for minutes on end to get the freakin' thing back in place. I think that's where the problem started, and has to be the solution. If anyone else has brought a Quadra 840AV back to life from this situation, I'd be grateful to know about it. I am seriously considering just getting a working 840 AV, and carrying on from there. I am sitting here with a ton of 72 pin RAM, Apple VRAM chips, plus a brand new Video Spigot Pro AV card that I purchased on eBay with the intention of making a fun project (famous last words) out of capturing video with this Quadra 840AV. I seriously intend to build a video capture system based on the 840AV. If ANYONE has had the same experience I am having, I would be very grateful to know about it. In the mean time I am searching for someone who has a Quadra 840AV they are willing to part with.
