I just picked up a performa 578 (33mhz 040, same as LC 575) and would like to load all of the kids software I have on it. The 300MB hard drive it comes with is sorta small, though. I'd like to use the purchasing power available now to buy a massive hard drive so that I can put entire copies of the CD's on the drive, so that my kids don't have to switch them (and break them).
Question is, can this mac use a current SCSI drive? I see on pricewatch that I can pick up a 40G drive for under $50. I remember reading some time ago that some minor version update to system 7.5 includes support for drive sizes in the terabyte range, so the size should not be a problem, but will it interface properly and use it? If not, what specs should I be looking for on a drive to ensure it works with this system? Thanks for any help. John Churchill -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
