Hi Derek, I've tried such a test (of having the same ID for two devices on ext. and int. buses). It "almost works"! :-) I've set my ext. CD-ROM drive from ID5 to the ID1, while one of internal hard disks hooked to the int. bus is also at ID1. The system (MacOS v7.6.1) booted just fine, and both HDD and CD-ROM are accessible, but any attempt to launch some diagnostic utility (such as 'Mt.Everything', 'Peripheral View' etc.) hangs the machine completely. It seems that 'hardware-wise', it's OK to have both buses fully populated with devices, but most of standard software will go crazy looking at it! :-) > I really cannot imagine needing more than seven SCSI devices... > CD-ROM, M.O., Printer, Scanner... Perhaps I just don't have enough toys! :-) In my case, I have five HDDs, CD-ROM and the scanner, so adding of tape, ZIP or MO drive can be done by removal of existing device only...
