I would like to take this opportunity to say "Hello !" to you all. My name is Berny, I am from Austria
and have just recently rescued a Quadra 800 from a company that went bankcrupt. I usually use
an eMac and a 15" PowerBook, but really love classic 68K Macs (I am actually an Amiga user,
which explains my interest and love for this kind of processor architecture).
I run a film production company, we are usually editing our films using Avid XPress Pro and
Final Cut Pro. We have to do a job for a Mexican company. They recorded some live concert
footage on NTSC BetaCam, the material needs to be edited and I thought it might be good idea
to get a second NTSC editing system for smaller, less complex jobs (we actually use an Amiga
Flyer as our main analog NTSC editing suite and are really happy with it -> 68K power :-) ).
I bought a used NuBus Telecast system on eBay, it comes complete with ...
- the VideoVision board - the VideoVision studio card - the V-Link adapter - the Telecast breakout box
So we are talking about two NuBus cards. I know that there are only three slots available, and
have a couple of questions:
- Is the inbuilt SCSI controller sufficient for recording full screen video (and audio) or shall we get
a SCSI card ?
- If we have to get a SCSI card, we may run into trouble, because we are running out of NuBus slots
and really need a graphics card for the system. Video editing at a screen resolution of 640 x 480 is not
really fun ;-)
- I really want to get a PhotoBooster PDS card. I've read somewhere that the PDS and one of the NuBus
slots is "shared". Does that mean that the PDS slot does no longer work if we are using a third expansion
card ? Or can't we no longer use a graphics card, if we use the PDS PhotoBooster ?

I know that we could get a Quadra 950, but I would like to keep the 800 because of its compact size.
