If we're talking about anything with an 040 processor...I love my "new"
Performa 638CD, obtained free with a TV card in it! Use it as my bedroom TV,
and
even got a generic universal remote to work with it. Remote works fine,
except when I press the power-off button on it, I get the "Are you sure you
want
to shut down your computer now?" window, so I have to get out of bed to press
the return key to shut it down. Any work around for this?(ResEdit? some pref I
can't think of?). Of course I could just mute the sound with the remote and
let it go to sleep along with me, but I like to conserve electricity. Or, I
suppose I could get the Energy Saver control panel to shut it down at a
specific time.

My first computer after graduating from a Mac Plus was a Quadra 800. Loved
it and used it as my main computer for years. Even after I got a PPC, I
networked the Q800 with it, though gave up on that when I got a video card to
use 2
monitors on the PPC. Brought it to where I spend weekends to use it there.
Then i bought another Q800 locally on eBay for $11, which came with max RAM, a
nice 2gb HD, an external Syquest drive, and a 15in. MS monitor. I discovered
when I got it home that it had an Apple PPC card in it, and since it was in
better shape, I replaced the old Q800 with this one. Sadly, with all the PPCs
I've collected, I have now retired the Q800.

Wish I had more than just a tiny apartment, or I'd set everything up and use
all the Quadras(800, 700, Powerbook 540) frequently.

Hope I haven't gone on too long reminiscing!
