The last time I was in Best Buy or CompUSA, I didn't see any SCSI scanners.
They were all USB. You can add a USB PCI card to a PPC and use them that
way (I just bought a 7200 and am waiting for my PCI USB card....). My only
other suggestion would be to buy a used scanner. Ebay would be the obvious
choice. BUT!!!!, I don't know if I'd risk buying a used scanner, too many
things that could have gone wrong especially if it is shipped
improperly...you could end up with something that is DOA. I have a SCSI
Mustek Scanner (about 10 years old) that I love and it is connected to my
Quadra 950. Since you have the $450.00, why not buy a PPC (you mentioned
that you had a 7100....no PCI slots!!)(I got mine for $35.00) and an USB PCI
card ($30.00) and a new USB scanner ($100.00 - 150.00).
This is just my opinion and you know what they say about those.......
