IMHO it will serve your Dad well for his surfing requirements. With the proper software it will cruise along just fine on the net. Make sure it has at least 40MB of RAM. Mine, with OS8.1, and Netscape 4.08 is about as fast as my G3 7500 on a dial-up connection.
