I am so excited! I posted my Q950 problems about a week back and many of you
responded. I was tinkering with the 950 and ended up pulling a memory stick
out and low and behold--a startup chime and now it boots up. Trouble is...I
don't know what I pulled out. It is not one of the RAM simms from any of the
4 banks of 4 sockets. It is white in color and located next to the fan on
the MOBO at the rear of the top set of RAM bank sockets. Anyone know what
the socket I pulled the "simm" out of is for?
Everything seems to work EXCEPT that the floppy drive is acting flooky. I
put a disk in at startup and it spits it out. At one point it says that it
is unreadable and wants to reinitialize. In fact, the floppy is a boot disk
with OS 7.6.1 on it. (Disks Tools) It works as verified in the IIci earlier.
I can't get any floppy to show up on the desktop. Remember this is the same
floppy taken out of the IIci and it works! I had it in the IIci just before
trying it in the 950.
Hey! I am halfway home on this one. If anyone knows if the memory stick I
removed may effect the floppy...please tell me and give me a suggestion. I
would like to also get the floppy going.
BTW-The simm says the word "SMART" on it and it is 64 pins.
