I've thought about that a few times, mainly because it'd 
be convenient to just use Drive Setup from one of the 
later versions for lots of different models and Systems. 

Although I've not tried that combo you suggest, I have 
one experience that generally prevented me from doing 
any more:

I once used a later version of Drive Setup (probably 
8.5.1, no, it wasn't done as HFS+) for my PB180 and 
then put 7.5.5 on it. The hard drive didn't mount, but 
when I did it again with HDSC, all was well.

So while some other combination might have worked, I 
haven't been too keen to try it. I do like the idea as a 
free way to gain speed without using, say, FWB for a 
7.1 System.
