Least we become bored, I wanted to pass my experience with my Q950 as I have
done a couple of times in the past. Those who have been responding, my
thanks goes out to you.

As last I left you, the floppy drive was not working even though it had been
working fine in my IIci. I also have a Quadra 630 with a floppy drive so I
got to thinking. (That can be dangerous)

I took the floppy out of the 630 and hooked it up to the 950. It works fine
with no problems. Go figure. This is a floppy drive that is not supposed to
work in the 950 but has had no problems. With the 630 apart I decided to go
for broke and see what would happen if I hooked the IIci floppy to it and
see if it would work. (Everyone with me so far?)

It didn't. So I am guessing (duh!) that the problem all along was the IIci
floppy. Even though it worked in the IIci. I have since restored the 630
floppy drive back to its home in the 630 and I am looking now for a
replacement floppy for the 950. Cheapest I have found is $20.00 at
ShreveSystems.com. That is for a new one. And so it goes...

Worth mentioning:

I was using my Iomega Zip 100 attached to the 950 to boot and work on the
HD. During the last few days I was hit head on by the Click of Death and the
Zip drive died an ugly (and noisy) death. After several tries with other
computers, I finally called Iomega.

I want to say to their credit that they treated me very favorably and have
agreed to replace the drive, even though it is several years old. Since they
no longer produce the SCSI version of the Zip 100 drive they are sending me
a Zip 250 SCSI drive. They have even thrown in some 250 disks to replace the
100 Zip disks I lost when the Click of Death darkened my doorstep. I applaud
Iomega for their treatment and willingness to go the extra mile with my
circumstances. I don't see this too often. It is good to know that there are
still companies that treat customers with respect and fairness.

Bye 4 now,
Byron
