Using an ACARD "SCSI Bridge" card, which attaches to the back of any 
EIDE/UATA hard disk drive and connects to the Mac's standard internal 50-pin 
SCSI cable, it *is* possible.

I have a 40 GB UATA/100 drive and an ACARD "SCSI Bridge" card on one of my WS 
9150s.

And I have installed these cards and UATA drives on my Q950s.
