It's true. I've done it. The video is handled by the off-CPU AV 
sub-systems and so keep going even when the OS crashes. In the setup in 
your video app just set it to draw over the menus and then crash Mac OS 
using your favorite method (I have a dodgy video viewing app that has 
locked uo a time or two) and the video keeps showing.

You'd be surprised how bad most Mac sound ports are, the one in my G3 
B&W I had was not great either. They suffice for normal computer 
speakers but I got a USB digital audio module for xmas and the 
improvement in quality is astounding. I agree the amp in th iBook is 
probably pretty low-powered, I know it distort if you turn the volume 
right up, I generally think it's just a rubbish amp, lets be honest it's 
only driving headphones or a poxy single speaker!
