Sounds like broken wires inside the cable, which will make contact at
some of these "awkward position"'s.

>I'm kind of worried that bending it
>eventually is going to break it for good.

It will, I have a monitor myself that has completely lost the red signal.
And you seem to have lost both the blue and red signals.
Remember the green screen you see is not a true monochrome image as
would be on a monochrome monitor but just the green elements of the screen.
This basically means things on the screen with no green element will not be visiable
to you atall.

> Any way to fix
>this other than bending the cable?

Yep but it aint gonna be easy! You need to repair the cable.
However in order to do this as a quick hack you would need to know where thje breaks
are
(they are probably at the bit of the cable you need to bend and likely in the same
place, which
was probably once trapped behind a desk or something such)
alternatively, it is better to replace the entire monitor lead.
And further more the best option (in my view) is to remove the cable and put a socket
on the
monitor and use a seperate lead, which can be thrown away and replaced when needed.
if only all monitors came like this in the first place! Damn some cost saving measures.

However to do any of these requires you to be fairly competant with a soldering iron
and
in some cases more!

Though it can be done, though unless you can do it or someone you know can do it (for
free)
then its probably not worth saving as getting another such monitor would be cheaper
than getting
a companyu to do this (i would think)
