Both my LC 475 and my 840av take stereo 3.5mm jack input tot the 
plaintalk Mic port just fine. There is a control strip module for OS 7.5 
or later (or 7.0 up if you steal the 7.5 version of Control strip) that 
allows you to switch audio sources, called Sound Input Strip (go google 
for it or e-mail me off-list if you can't find it) that allows you to 
switch inputs from Plaintalk Mic to External Audio. This switches the 
Plaintalk port into 'Line In' mode to take normal 3.5mm stereo in.
