Just picked up a quadra 650 at the local thrift store ($7 woo
hoo!). The video card it comes with seems to have 512 KB of video ram,
and the highest resolution it's giving me on my 15" apple multiscan
monitor is 640x480 (at any bit depth, so I'm running it at 8bpp). So
first question, does this seem right?

Oh, by the way, when I booted up the machine there were some system
7.5.5 installer files in the trash, and the disk looks freshly
wiped. So my guess is that it's a brand new install. Should I be
looking for an updated video driver before?

Apparnatly figuring that $7 is a too low total cost of ownership, I
went to Re-PC (uber-neat store of old computers filling two warehouses
in Seattle) and saw a bargain bin of misc. nubus cards. There were
some video cards (all made my apple) in there (all with 1 MB soldered
on), but I didn't see anything on there about what card they
were. Looking on lowendmac.com it seems there are various ones, but
I'm not seeing enough information to really ID them.

Is there something online somewhere I can print out to take with me to
the store to figure out what's what?

Thanks.
