I've managed to get a Conner CFP2107S 2Gig hard drive
recognized and formatted in my Quadra 605 using the
method described at:

http://www.euronet.nl/users/ernstoud/patch.html.

Since there isn't room for both the original IBM 160M
drive and the new one, I'd like to move everything over
to the new drive, boot from it, and eliminate the
original drive altogether. Is this possible without
reinstalling everything from scratch? (I found this Mac
on the street and it was loaded with a bunch of neat
stuff. However, I don't have the original software to
reload it). I looked for this sort of thing in the FAQs
but couldn't find anything. Some of you must have done
this sort of thing before. Any hints, web resources,
etc?

I've formatted the new drive 1/2 MacOS and 1/2 A/UX
because I want to play around with Mac's UNIX. I'm
pretty familiar with Linux but don't have a clue about
A/UX. I got A/UX from the Apple site and plan on
installing it after I get the MacOS loaded. Are there
any good references on the internet about how to do
this?

Finally, I daisy chained the Conner drive with the
original drive as I formatted it. It seemed to get quite
hot. I felt the original drive and it stayed cool. I'm
wondering, when I permanently install the Conner drive
in the case if the heat will dissipate through the metal
that surrounds it. Does anyone have any experience with
hot running HDs? I doubt that there's room for an extra
fan in the Q605 because the case is so small.

Thanks,
Mike
