Very much so. If it's a DDS-1 drive as some one else said it holds, IIRC, 1.3Gb. The tapes are pretty inexpensive. I have a DDS-3 (probably the best $2.50 I spent) drive on my file server and the backups work quite well. I previously had a QIC drive capable of backing up 1Gb. The tapes were expensive and it was slow. The DDS was such a big improvement.
