Addiction relates to a disease that screws up ones health, family
life, or finances. Thus, gambling can be an addiction. My foster
daughter said her real dad, emptied out his bank account and trust
funds on a get rich scheme. Buying a 7100 for a buck isn't even in
the same arena. My collection has taken over my house temporarily
simply because I have not had time nor the right time to move them
out. It is too hot to be messing in the garage. I retired from
school but will still be giving Macintoshes away to kids that need
them. I also sell them to people who work at food franchises and
simply don't make the money to buy a computer for 700 bucks. I can
get them on the net for less than 50 bucks and break even on my Macs.
That's not an addiction that is absolutely magical to the people when
they see it happen. Main thing here is that I HAVE to break even.
If I can do that, I can put dozens of pizza Macs in first graders'
homes where they would never be able to afford them. No, addiction,
it is not. What it is though is greed and criminality. Somehow we
ought to let those who don't think they can afford a "Dude, your
gettin' a Dell", that they don't need a DELL to surf the Net. You
cannot believe the change it has made in the life of an 80 year old
lady surfing the Net when she didn't think she could afford to on her
income. Get off your buns and go talk to the elementary counselor
and principal and find out where you can place these little dudes. I
bought 200 dollars worth of elementary educational gems for 15 bucks,
and believe me, those programs will find a child who desperately
needs them.

We are doing the right thing by saving these computers; we just need
to find homes for them. Don't feel guilty. If I can, you can.
